Email from David Simon, because he is A Giver, at October 21, 2015, 6:17 pm:
“All America is with you. Except for about 80 million of the assholes.”
Email from James Yoshimura, still A Northsider, at October 22, 2015, 9:22 a.m.
“All of America can go fuck itself. And if it’s looking for Sisyphus, the
prick’s drinking with me and will until next spring training.”
God help Yosh and all the others laboring in the deep bowels of their dark, forbidding mine. The Cubbies are relentless. They are an anvil, with another anvil tied to them for weight. God help you good people.

Wrigley Field itself is the curse. Perhaps the Cubs should build a modern stadium (CitiField in Queens is great if you are a fan. Great sight lines. Great facilities and concession spaces.). I am just not sure where on the North Side a new Cubs field can be built. CW
Wrigley is a temple.
That temple has been defaced a lot this year and the Cubs have never won a series there. Just sayin’.
Or not.
I just thank god I was born on the south side of Chicago, dangerous as it is!
Oh yeah, you think that’s tough? Try being a Yankee fan! We haven’t won a world series since 2009! How do you think that makes us feel? I mean Mets, Cubs, yeah, whatever, but give a thought to the poor Yankees. We could use your support. Please, won’t you help? Also, I love how David Simon hides his love for the Yankees with this fake-ass Baltimore thing he’s got going. Enough, David, enough.
As I former Senators fan who got Shorted, I can empathize a little for the Cubs fans. However, I was a South Sider when I lived in Chicago so my empathy is just a little. I’ve lived in NY for over 30 years now, so…Let’s Go Mets!

If the Cubs would have beaten the Mets, I would be rooting for them. CW
Sniff.
Sad Face.
Only solace is that the Dodgers lost first.
Well, as a Blue Jay fan, I can sympathize with y’all. I watched that Cubs game last night hoping until the last out that it wouldn’t end for them.
It was heart-warming to see all the Cubs on the field facing their fans in a mutual salute for a great season of baseball.
Maybe, if the Blue Jays can continue with their comeback against the Royals, we can then dispense with the Mets and produce enough redemption to go around! 🙂
Go Jays!
We Chicagoans are wallowing in our beer.
